BLACK RANSOM is one stylish film directed by KEUNG KWOK-MAN with a lot of heart, some soul and plenty of shoot-outs. It focuses on kidnap and ransom, though strangely, the victim is not the heir to some billionaire, but an important triad member. We’ve a good cop played by SIMON YAM.
Now throw in a bad cop (MICHAEL MIU) who’s helming a small bunch of hard-boiled ex-cops who kidnap not just for money, but to act as self-imposed vigilantes to eliminate the baddies – those who manage to escape judicial justice.

Hong Kong film star Donnie Yen reprises his role as Ip Man in this semi-autobiographical sequel following the adventures of the grandmaster of Wing Chun. The Sino-Japanese war has ended, and after defending his people with wushu, Ip escapes the wrath of the Japanese by fleeing to Foshan. Failing to find peace even in his own homeland, Ip relocates his family to Hong Kong in 1949. Once there, Ip begins teaching Wing Chun to a group of pupils that includes Wong Leung (Huang Xiao Ming), who soon clashes with Cheng Wei Ki (Dennis To). Embarrassed at haven been beaten so badly by Wong in a fight, Cheng kidnaps his rival and takes him to a fish market owned by Master Hung (Sammo Hung). Blaming Ip for the damage done by Wong, Master Hung demands that the other teacher defeat practitioners of all wushu varieties in the time it takes to burn a single joss stick. Incredibly, Ip meets the challenge, impressing Master Hung, who then gives him permission to open his own wushu school. When Master Hung gives Ip a ticket to the King of Boxing Competition, a friendship is forged between the two former rivals. After a competitor nicknamed Twister is named the winner, he beats Cheng and friends for celebrating with wushu, and claims he can defeat Master Hung with three simple blows. Though Master Hung maintains the upper hand throughout most of the fight, Twister eventually lands a punch that knocks his superior down. In the wake of the fight, tensions between the locals and westerners begin heating up, and the local superintendent responds by announcing a kung fu competition. When Ip defeats all challengers, including Twister, Wing Chun gains popularity throughout Hong Kong, and the highly respected master begins teaching a young disciple named Bruce Lee, who will bring the art of Chinese wushu to westerners before dying tragically at the tender age of 32.

True Legend is the extraordinary journey of a man - a martial arts hero - whose greatest dream is to create a unique school of martial arts for the world to follow.
All his life, Su Can has been pursuing the summit in martial arts. There are two things he holds dearest to his heart – the dream of creating a unique kind of martial arts that will pass on to generations; and his beloved wife. Su has a happy family and his wife is the joy of his life. But owing to a turn of fate and Su’s own stubbornness, he loses his wife and his family is destroyed.

Movie Review:
Master action choreographer Yuen Woo Ping returns to the directing chair after a hiatus of more than a decade. It seems that Yuen has a penchant for one of the Ten Tigers of Canton, Su Can or Su Qi Er that with "True Legend", it marks the maestro’s second attempt in bringing the legendary folk hero to the big screen.
Not to be confused with Yuen’s 1993 version with starred Donnie Yen in the lead role or Stephen Chow’s amusing "King of Beggars", this Christine To’s (Fearless) adaptation involves Su Can (Vincent Zhao Wen Zhuo) as a successful bodyguard working for the Royal family. But the man yearns to leave the army in pursuit of something he loves rather than a high post with the government and in the true spirit of a martial-arts practitioner, Can hopes to impart his skills to others and also live in peace with his wife, Yuan Ying (Zhou Xun) and son. But his happiness is short-lived when Ying’s brother, Yuan Lie (Andy On) returns to avenge his father’s who was killed by Can’s father 18 years ago, an act that shattered the life of Can forever.
Yuen no doubt knew where his bread-and-butter lies and given his excellent repertoire for the past decades and involvement in Hollywood productions such as "The Matrix" and "Kill Bill", you can rest assured Yuen is going to kick some serious ass in True Legend. Sadly on the other hand when it comes to story-telling, Yuen seems to be at a great loss. To be fair, part of the problem lies in the 'go-through-the-motion' script by Christine To. Man-beaten-down, Man-mourn-the-loss-of-his-skill, Man-regains-and-fights, Man-wins and so on and forth. The story flows jarringly from one act to another without much depth and it’s especially true in the last act.
Without investing much effort in creating his characters, Yuan Lie for example remains a caricature, paper-thin villain while Su Can suffers as a mystic figure that borders between a genius martial-arts artiste and a depression figure desperately in need of psychiatric help. Unlike the recent "Ip-Man" and Tsui Hark’s "Once Upon A Time In China", where the audience is heavily invested with the protagonists, "True Legend" lacks this magical touch that makes the movie works as the various characters seem very far detached and even mythical in some sense.
Vincent Zhao (Once Upon A Time in China IV) who has seen his star power declined over the years surprisingly puts in an emotional performance that I should say is on par with Jet Li in "Fearless". With "True Legend", we get to hear Zhao in his own voice at last after so many years of horrid dubbing. His chemistry with Zhou Xun perhaps is one of the factors that salvaged the filmsy plotting as well. The underrated Andy On (Invisible Target) finally has the chance to stand out with his villainous character but like I say it’s pathetically squandered away by To’s sloppy scribing. After her much-hyped deleted scene in "Fearless", Michelle Yeoh cameos as Physician Yu who saved Can after his near-death battle with Lie in addition the late David Carradine who appears towards the end. The star that has everyone clamoring for his attention nowadays is none other than Jay Chou. Appearing as a figment of Can’s imagination, Chou is in purely for the eye candy or comic relief depending how you see it as he looks awkwardly out-of-place in the whole production.
Of course, "True Legend" never disappoints when it comes to the whole action arena. From the opening sequence to Can’s sparring with Lie to the finale with the tournament fighters, Yuen proved he is still at the top of his game. The 'Five-Fingers Venom Fist' employed by Lie in particular brings back memories to the grand old days of Shaw martial-art classics, it’s a pity Can’s supposedly trademark Drunken Fist wasn’t elaborate that greatly in this aspect. Lastly one other minor gripe is the movie lacks a distinct fight that distinguished one from another if you take into account Yuen’s outstanding past works including "The Tai-Chi Master" and "Iron Monkey".
In conclusion, "True Legend" action sequences while never ground-breaking once again established Yuen as the best wire-fu, martial-arts choreographer of all time. So if you are in for some exhilarating action mood, you won’t regret seeing Vincent Zhao and Andy On breaking each other’s bones. "True Legend" is certainly not much of a movie about the biopic of Su Can or even the philosophy behind the drunken fist, ultimately it’s just a handsomely produced production that only serves to entertain the masses.

Kidd (Andy Lau) a police officer from the year 2080 and his wife Millie (Bingbing Fan) are summoned to protect Dr. Masterson (Jingwu Ma), who is known as the "Father of Solar Energy" due to creating a cheap method to replace fossil fuel with solar energy. Because of Dr. Masterson's creation, oil tycoons have made several attempts on the life of Dr. Masterson. The Special Force of the police department has received credible information that an army of humanoids (half-man/half-machine) led by Kalon (Siu-Wong Fan) & Fiona (Yifei Tang) are set to ambush Dr. Masterson at the Convention Center.
At the Convention Center a fierce battle ensues that leaves Kidd's wife Millie and all of the humanoids dead, except for Kalon & Fiona.
The oil tycoons then steal the secrets of time travel to send revamped 2.0 versions of Kalon & Fiona to the year 2020 to murder Dr. Masterson when he was a 12 year old kid.
The government learns of the oil tycoons plans to go back in time and this is when Kidd volunteers to have radical surgery to transform himself into a bionic man with mechanical arms and legs. He then travels back to 2020 with his daughter Kiki, who will go to the same school as the young Dr. Masterson. Kidd works as a police officer in 2020, to avoid suspicion of his background, while fellow police officer Holly (Barbie Hsu) becomes attracted to Kidd. Knowing he will go back to 2080 after his mission is complete he is unable to return Holly's affection for him.
A fierce show down with the androids Kalon & Fiona is then set to occur ...

Synopsis
Bao (Stephy Tang) originally was a very lucky girl. She opened a sweets shop after graduating college with her longtime boyfriend Jun. Synopsis
In Northern Wei Dynasty, little Mulan (Xu Jiao) has ambition to become a soldier fighter for his kingdom one day. However, since she is a girl she is not permitted to join the army. After entering the army barracks, Mulan has to undergo harsh and intensive training, making herself courageous and soon win the respect of the battalion’s Vice Commander, Wentai (Chen Kun). During the training session Mulan meets up with her childhood friend, Xiao Hu (Jaycee Chan). One day Wentai suspects there’s a woman among the male army troops and a strip search is required.
In order to avoid her identity to be exposed to everyone Mulan finally reveals her real identity to Wentai after she confessed of stealing the jade pendant. Her punishment is jail sentence but is later released when the Rouran tribe invades the kingdom for tin and iron. Mulan’s first real battle ends with a success and soon she is promoted to be the Vice Commander and always fight the battle along with Wentai.
It is friendship at first for Mulan and Wentai but later turns into romance for both of them. The Rouran tribe then strikes back with a stronger army under the leadership of Modu (Hu Jun). The attack arrives unexpectedly and the Wei’s army is significantly reduced and Mulan now faces the toughest battle of her life. She must choose whether to surrender her kingdom to Rouran or sacrifice her love for the sake of her kingdom…

Herman Yau continues his solid filmmaking streak with the surprising low-budget thriller-comedy Split Second Murders. Novelist and screenwriter Erica Li (Stephen Chow's King of Comedy, among others) penned the story, a largely unremarkable tale about life changing decisions, unexpected consequences, and what happens when a bunch of people get way too angry. The film stumbles when trying to establish meaning, but it's Yau's expert, straight-faced direction that sells the jokes and situations, and helps to make the inexperienced idol cast into something resembling a practiced ensemble. Lives won't change, but Split Second Murders is far better than one would expect.

Synopsis
Zhang Ren Jie (Louis Koo) is the heir of a casino in Macau but since he is not interested to take over the gambling business he decides to leave for Canada, prompting the casino manager Zhuo Yi (Lau Ching Wan) to persuade him to come back.
